KATHLEEN'S CORNER

March 2017

Happy wearin' o' the green to each one of you. The most important day of the year (except Christmas, of course) is right around the corner. We manage to extend the St. Patrick's celebrations a little ( thanks to the Winter Park Arts Festival) by having the Parade quite early and thus setting off the festivities. The Parade starts to strut its stuff down Park Avenue at exactly 2:00. Line up on Whipple Street at 1:00 if you want to carry your flag proudly down the street with your fellow members of the Irish-American Club. Make sure to come back to the stage to be entertained by Mike Daly and performances of our local Irish dance troupes. Followed, of course, by a trip to the local pub for some good grub and more Irish entertainment. 'Tis a foin day to be Irish or make believe you are!

And make sure you have your tickets for the St. Patrick's Day dinner dance which is at 2:00 on Sunday March 12. Our old friend Annette Doyle is in charge of the musical entertainment that day and TooJay's is in charge of the Corned Beef and Cabbage. Soooo great music and great food. There will be door prizes and raffles and a 50/50. This day is a BYOB affair, but water and soda will be for sale.

The Dublin City Ramblers will be in town on the 14th performing at the St. Cloud Civic Center. For more info call John McMahon at 407-951-9700.

Hopefully the NEW Claddagh Cottage, home of traditional Irish music every other Wednesday night, will be open in its new location at 2421 Curry Ford Road, by St. Patrick's Day. You can keep up with its progress by listening to the message at 407-895-1555 or on the web at www.claddaghcottagepub.com Traditional Irish sessions have continued during the construction at the Harp and Celt on Magnolia Avenue downtown.

I'm getting tired just talking about all the upcoming craic (fun). Hope to see you at all things
Irish!!!

Slan lait.
Kathleen
